Principal's Page

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for visiting our Douglas Elementary School website. It is truly an honor and privilege to serve the students, parents, teachers, and community of Douglas. DES has a long history of teachers and administration that are dedicated to putting students first, enhancing their education, and broaden their horizons.

I am a 1988 graduate of Crossville High School. I am a 1992 graduate of Jacksonville State University with a BSE in biology and history. I also have a MA in history from the University of Alabama. After obtaining my MA, I returned to the University of Alabama and achieved certification in Educational Leadership. After taking sometime off I returned once again to the University of Alabama and graduated with an Ed.S. degree in Educational Leadership.

This marks my 17th year in education all serving the Marshall County Schools. During my time I have served as a classroom teacher at Asbury High School and Douglas High School. During my time as a classroom teacher I taught primarily social studies, but also taught computer applications, literature and science. Prior to coming to Douglas Elementary I served as assistant principal at Kate Duncan Smith DAR High School.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my daughters, relaxing with my dog and cheering on the JSU Gamecocks or Crimson Tide.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact me atallents@marshallk12.org.

I look forward to partnering with you for the betterment of Douglas Elementary School and our students.
